WeChat Launches "Time Capsule" Feature
China based social app WeChat launched its first major update in years-“Time Capsule”. Much like Instagram Stories, Time Capsule lets users add videos up to fifteen seconds in length to their feeds. Also like its Instagram counterpart, the content is available for twenty-four hours before disappearing.
After they upload their chosen content, app users will be able to add emojis, music, and more. In a departure from Instagram Stories, Time Capsule also suggests music based on the videos subject matter.
The move comes as the app’s owner, investment conglomerate Tencent, moves further into the short form video market. Aside from the new Time Capsule feature, WeChat has also changed the look of its interface. The app now sports a lighter color scheme, and more simplified in-app icons.
