Instagram Experiments With Donation Sticker for Stories

With Stories fast becoming one of its most popular features, Instagram is experimenting with a new addition. In a move that would mirror Facebook’s charity efforts, Instagram is testing a donation button for Stories. Appearing alongside the classic emojis and location markers, the donation prompt is currently in the test phase.

Spotted last week by researcher Jane Manchun Wong, it appears the button would act similarly to its Facebook counterpart, allowing users to start fundraisers for charities. While Facebook has had the donation feature since 2015, it only recently started waiving the associated fees. Instagram’s test comes at a time when the platform is focusing research on what making the app shoppable could look like. For now, however, it appears the Instagram donation button for stories is still a ways away from being fully released.
